Territorial Acknowledgement
With gratitude, mutual respect, and reciprocity, I acknowledge that my husband, our two sons, my mother-in-law, and I live as uninvited guests on the traditional lands of the T’Souke Nation; where we are never more than moments from the ocean, the forest, or the hills. We visit each often and always strive to leave them more beautiful than we find them.
I was born to settlers on the ancestral lands of the Treaty 7 signatories. Specifically, the Nations of the Blackfoot Confederacy, the Tsuut’ina and Stoney Nakoda Nations, as well as the Otipemisiwak Métis Government. My first home was a place known originally as Moh’kinstsis, a gathering place for the sharing of ideas and opportunities. Today, it is colonially known as Calgary.
